Beginner Guide

Learn the clean early-game route: finish the tutorial, use daily resident requests for D.G. progress, unlock hobbies in order, and build a repeatable first-week routine.

Updated: 2026-05-13

Quick Start

Heartopia opens as a cozy life sim with home building, hobbies, NPC routines, and shared-town multiplayer. The useful beginner goal is not to clear every menu immediately. Focus on unlocking the core loops that give you daily progress: story quests, resident requests, your starter home, and the first hobby chain.

In the first hour you will create a character, learn movement and interaction controls, receive your starter home plots, meet Vanya for fishing, and enter the D.G. Member’s Guild progression track.

Look

Create your character

Pick the hair, eyes, brows, skin tone, and outfit you want to keep seeing every day.

Controls

Learn the basics

Use the Star Spirit tutorial to learn movement, camera control, and simple interaction.

Home

Check your first home

Your starter home includes 2 home plots, so learn how the space works before buying more.

Hobby

Meet Vanya

Vanya introduces fishing, your first hobby and one of the easiest early routines.

Guild

Join the D.G. path

The D.G. Member's Guild becomes the main way to unlock new systems.

First-Hour Route

  1. Create your character and confirm the look you want to live with.
  2. Follow the Star Spirit tutorial prompts until free movement opens up.
  3. Visit your starter home and learn how home plots work.
  4. Complete Vanya’s fishing introduction instead of postponing it.
  5. Start the D.G. Member’s Guild path as soon as it appears.
  6. Talk to town NPCs while routes are short and the map is still small.

D.G. Member’s Guild

The D.G. Member’s Guild is the main account progression spine. Raising D.G. level unlocks hobbies, home plots, quality-of-life features, story access, and more NPC interactions.

How to Level Up D.G. Membership

Daily Resident Requests are the easiest reliable source of Contribution Medals. You can complete five each day, and each request helps your D.G. level move forward.

Main Story + Daily/Weekly Loop

Story

Main quests

Follow these to unlock systems, new areas, and important NPC features.

Daily

Daily tasks

Use these as your steady Contribution Medal source between story steps.

Weekly

Weekly tasks

These give larger boosts, so check them before reset instead of rushing at the end.

Essential Beginner Tips

Daily Checklist

  • Complete five Daily Resident Requests.
  • Harvest ready crops and replant empty plots.
  • Check cooking stations before starting a new route.
  • Gather free materials from forest and beach runs.
  • Do a short fishing session for hobby progress and sale value.
  • Talk to key NPCs when you pass through town.

This list is intentionally short. A daily plan that you can actually repeat is stronger than a perfect checklist you abandon after two days.

NPC

NPC & Shop Tips

Talk to NPCs daily. Many requests and upgrades start from regular visits. Check shop stock often because furniture, clothing, and useful goods can rotate.

Gold

Money-Making Tips

Cook spare ingredients when the recipe cost makes sense. Early jams, fish, and cooked dishes are useful sale items, but keep a small reserve for quests.

Growth

Progression Tips

Do not skip daily requests, keep following main quests, and level hobbies evenly so better rewards open over time.

Money And Materials

Cooked dishes generally sell better than raw ingredients, so turn spare ingredients into food when the recipe cost makes sense. Early jam routes are useful because fruit is easy to gather and the output can become steady starter income.

Fish and cooked dishes are good sale candidates, but avoid selling everything. Keep a small reserve of ingredients, common fish, and gathered materials so quests and crafting do not stall.

Save gold for systems that change your daily efficiency, such as home plots, storage, or useful shop stock. Cosmetics are safer after your routine has enough income.

NPCs, Shops, And Home Setup

Talk to NPCs regularly. Many requests, upgrades, and hobby introductions become clearer through repeated visits. Shops can rotate furniture, clothing, pet goods, and utility items, so check stock when you are already in town.

For decorating, use the Builder Tablet to rotate, align, move, and return furniture. It is especially helpful in small starter rooms where a few tiles can decide whether a layout works.

Energy And Stamina

Heartopia uses energy for many actions. Food restores smaller chunks and sleep handles larger recovery. The practical rule is simple: do energy-heavy tasks in batches, then eat or rest before starting another batch.

If you are low on energy, switch to lower-cost chores such as NPC visits, shop checks, route planning, or home edits.

Common Beginner Questions

Is Heartopia free to play?

Yes. Heartopia is free to download and play on PC, iOS, and Android. Optional purchases focus on cosmetics and premium currency.

Can friends play together?

Yes. Heartopia supports multiplayer towns, friends, and home visits.

Is there an energy system?

Yes. Many activities use energy. Eat food for smaller recovery, and sleep when you need a bigger refill.

How does progress save?

Progress is account-based and cloud-synced, so the same account can carry progress across supported platforms.

What should Moonlight Crystals be used for?

Use premium currency carefully. Exclusive outfit banners, inventory expansion, and quality-of-life upgrades are better candidates than impulse spending.

When is the daily reset?

Daily tasks and resident requests reset at 6:00 AM server time.
